I came into Blue Turtle dental about five years ago after just being told by another Dentist that I needed over $20,000 worth of work and she still couldn’t guarantee that my teeth could get fixed. I was devastated. I heard about Blue Turtle dental and specifically Dr. Alex Yen and came to see him. I have had an ongoing relationship with Dr. Yen now and he is the kindest most detail orientated Dentist I have ever met. His reception staff, Laura, and Alp are also extremely kind and work very hard to get you in as soon as possible if you have a dental emergency. I have recommended over 10 people to come see any Dentist at Blue Turtle dental and will continue to do so. You will not find a better dental experience anywhere else in Palo Alto, or at the Redwood City branch . I feel like I’m family when I come to visit them, and I no longer have an extreme fear of dentists. I now live a life comfortable with my teeth and that is priceless

The best dental practice I've been to. Came here to fill in my cavities and the dentists here did it with great care. Any follow up work relating to it was done promptly. My dad needed help with dentures and the dentists here gladly took him in as a patient. My dad also said that they were the best dentists he's ever had. Everyone is super welcoming and it was honestly kinda fun! I went in for a cleaning with a hygienist and I couldn’t be more impressed with the service. Dr. Yen was able to fit me in his schedule and provided me with a temporary fix for my chipped teeth caused by a bike accident. His passion and care were evident in every word he spoke, making me feel at ease and comfortable despite the traumatic experience. During my previous Invisalign treatment, Jenny, the receptionist, was amazing. She was always there to answer my questions and address any concerns I had. I have been going to Dr. Alex Yen for 7 years as a graduate student from Stanford under their Cardinal Care health insurance. Alex is an amazing dentist that is highly detail oriented, patient, kind, and informative. He is constantly upgrading his practice and thinking of new ways to improve his craft which is a rare quality. He takes consistent notes and remembers all the ins and outs of my teeth. Further to my review below....they have taken on too many patients and now it's too hard to get a weekend appointment. Blue Turtle Dental have offered our family of 5 high quality dental care and advice in a friendly way. Blue Turtle Dental has been a fantastic dental family practice since we first came to it when Dr. Scheel owned it. Now, under Dr. Yen, the practice has extended their high standard of care. The key behind this is of course the care team. Every single person who works at Blue Turtle Dental is extremely capable and friendly. Starting with Jenny, Blue Turtle’s practice manager, whose effectiveness and kindness is unparalleled. She has helped me and my family coordinate our dental care, accommodating complex scheduling requests, handling insurance claims and otherwise working through options to make sure our needs are met. Between Jenny, Hellen and Jianing on the front desk, you have a proactive and extremely organized team to help you manage your appointments and feel comfortable with your dental care. Dr. Munnazah, our family dentist, is superbly competent. She has a no nonsense, knowledge-based approach to dental care and we trust her fully with it. She has also been amazing and empathetic with the dental care of our children. We love the fact that the practice is always on top of our preventive care, and in that sense, I can’t say enough about Blue Turtle’s team of hygienists. Khalid is awesome and my kids won’t do their cleaning unless it is him who does it. Same goes for Zahra who’s been fantastic and always ready to share tips on oral care. We have been going to Blue Turtle Dental for more than 6 years and couldn’t be happier to have found the best practice for all of our family’s dental needs.

Blue Turtle Dental sets a high bar for the industry. The office is technified: intake forms? Use their iPad. Appointment reminders? Text message. Emergency dental needs? Message their office manager, Jenny, and she can efficiently book a slot. Dr. M worked on replacing an old crown and didn't stop until it was perfect. I wrecked a tooth crunching into nori popcorn kernels. This is the dental office in Palo Alto that works magic!

I came here to get a deep cleaning and have two silver fillings removed and replaced with white ones (about 2.5h hrs). I received 5 shots (I’m personally terrified of needles), but barely felt them as Khalid did an amazing job in calming me and making sure I was comfortable the entire time. He did an very thorough job at cleaning my gums, answering all my questions and kept me informed of what to expect in this process. Since I was getting shots anyways for the deep cleaning, Jenny recommended I might as well get my fillings done at the same time so that I didn’t have to get more shots (very smart and considerate of her), the filling extraction and replacement took maybe 40 minutes? I couldn’t really tell because I kept my eyes closed the whole time and actually fell asleep at one point, that’s how gentle and reassuring they were! I highly recommend the Blue Turtle team for any of your dental needs!

Dr Munnazah is very detailed and the team has been wonderful especially with our kids. I was very nervous about going to a dentist after moving in from a different country and not understanding how payments and treatment plans in the US work. I chipped a tooth and turned out I needed quite a bit of work done. The practice coordinator, Jenny Pan, went above and beyond to make sure I had the best experience possible, especially in the beginning! She reassured me and helped me understand what was going on every step of the way. Both Dr. Yen and, later, Dr. Munazzah have been fantastic: Thorough, kind respectful and professional. Their office manager, Jenny Pan, is a very capable and warm person. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was relaxed and comfortable before my appointments. Also, she would send me text messages to follow up and make sure I am recovering well. If I have any questions, she will respond promptly. As for Dr. Alex Yen, he is very attentive. I have brought to his attention that I have been having difficulties flossing for many years. When Dr. Yen looked and noticed 4 of my molars (2 on each side) were pressed together as if they were fused together, he performed a dental procedure called Odontoplasty (shaved and reshaped my impacted molars to give them some space). I am surprised such procedure existed. I have brought up my difficulties with flossing my back molars with previous dentists each year. Yet, none of my previous dentists has taken the initiative to address my concerns. Now, I can floss without any difficulties. Thank you, Dr. Yen!! I would recommend Blue Turtle Dental to anyone who wants an attentive dentist and team.

Like many other people I've been to mulitiple dental offices and never seem to feel joy going to the dentist let alone an appominent. My oyfriend found Blue Turtle Dental last year I am incredibly happy he did. The staff is AMAZING Jenny is such an incredible person with an open heart to help others. The staff is very welcoming and polite! Jenny, who is the Practice Coordinator, is amazing and goes above and beyond. From the first day I called the office, Jenny got back to me quickly and answered all my questions. Jenny and Hellen are super friendly and do a great job in updating me about my mother's insurance, reminding me of upcoming appointments, and even take the time to go over the treatment plans if I have further questions. Dr. Yen and Dr. Hussain are amazing! They explain step by step what they are doing and the treatment plans they are recommending. This is by far the best dental office I have been to! They have so much patience for my elderly mother. They are gentle, make sure she gets breaks in between treatments, and that she understands the process. I started going as a patient myself. Blue Turtle Dental is also taking COVID-19 safety precautions seriously by asking screening questions, taking your temperature, maintaining social distancing and disinfecting in between patients. I would definitely recommend Blue Turtle Dental to anyone who is looking for a clean, caring, and professional dental team!

The staff here is absolutely excellent. My 5 year old is a naturally shy and somewhat worried guy, and they made him feel so welcome and comfortable. He had a baby tooth cavity so gnarly that they had to remove it rather than fill it, and not only were they so great with him, but I felt 0 shame as a parent about this, and I think that's pretty huge, too. We've seen other dentists in the past but have *never* felt this great after leaving. We mainly reside in Sacramento but we will be using Blue Turtle Dental exclusively moving forward. If that doesn't show you how obsessed we are, I don't know what will! I really can't recommend this place more.

She is both competent and kind and is an incredible asset to Blue Turtle Dental. I've been going to Blue Turtle for ~7 years, and they just went through ownership change. I'm always a bit cautious of small private businesses when ownership changes hands...but, it's great! I bring both of my kids (2 and 4 years old) and my kids love everybody at the office too. They're all friendly, courteous and feel a bit like family with all the good vibes. I know they're poking and prodding at my teeth, but honestly I think this is about as good as it gets!

I booked an appointment right before the pandemic and shelter in place came into effect, so everything got pushed back. But Jenny made sure to keep in touch even after months went by. I came to Dr. Scheel's practice in early 2018 when my insurance changed. I had an ongoing issue with a bridge that needed to be replaced. Dr. Schell quickly got up to speed on ther problem and advised a sound course of action. Through two implants, a root canal and a crown replacement, she worked effectively with my endodontist and periodontist and led the restoration once the implants were in place. I and my family are patients at Blue Turtle. I am extremely satisfied with the quality of service. They take great care to make every bit of the process as user-friendly and effective as possible. Dr. Scheel is fantastic at her work--she is particularly good at explaining issues/procedures and presenting what feels like a truly unbiased opinion. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and professional. I also took my kids for check-ups (ages 8, 6, 5). When we arrived, a Disney movie was playing in the waiting room in anticipation of our arrival (thoughtful). The kids continued the movie on personal screens during their checkups. Upon leaving, my 5 year-old asked, "When can we go to the dentist again?"--this was a much different experience than 6 months earlier at our old dentist (nightmare). Definitely recommend this office. The best dental practice I've been to. Came here to fill in my cavities and the dentists here did it with great care. Any follow up work relating to it was done promptly. My dad needed help with dentures and the dentists here gladly took him in as a patient. My dad also said that they were the best dentists he's ever had. Shout out especially to Dr. Yen, who is amazing.

I came into Blue Turtle dental about five years ago after just being told by another Dentist that I needed over $20,000 worth of work and she still couldn’t guarantee that my teeth could get fixed. I was devastated. I heard about Blue Turtle dental and specifically Dr. Alex Yen and came to see him. I have had an ongoing relationship with Dr. Yen now and he is the kindest most detail orientated Dentist I have ever met. His reception staff, Laura, and Alp are also extremely kind and work very hard to get you in as soon as possible if you have a dental emergency.
